After meeting last week, Canberra Women’s Football Inc. (CWF) and Capital Football (CF) CEO Samantha Farrow have confirmed their shared commitment to Canberra United’s success in the upcoming 2024/25 A-League Women’s season. There is no question that the season will proceed as planned, with both parties working diligently to overcome challenges and ensure the team’s competitive presence.

CWF is delighted at the appointment of Antoni Jagarinec as the new head coach for Canberra United. His leadership and vision are highly anticipated, and we are confident he will drive the team to be as competitive as possible. We commend both Jagarinec and Farrow for their commitment to utilising the full salary cap, a crucial step in maintaining competitive standards and player morale. We understand extensive efforts are being made behind the scenes to secure sponsorships and sign top-tier players, and we eagerly await the forthcoming player announcements.

Despite facing a $150,000 reduction in funding from the A-Leagues, the season promises to be resilient. CWF will spearhead targeted fundraising campaigns and events to bridge this financial gap, ensuring that Canberra United has the resources needed to thrive. The team will need the community’s support more than ever, and CWF will help to facilitate this. The strategic collaboration between CWF and CU will ensure that the funds raised are directed where they are needed most, maximising the impact on the team’s performance and stability.

To further solidify our partnership and strategic direction, a planning day will be held in the coming weeks. This session will focus on exploring all avenues of available funding and refining our strategies for the upcoming season.

Stay tuned for more exciting developments and announcements as we gear up for a fantastic Season 17!
