With Capital Football’s confirmation of Canberra United’s participation in Season 17, our focus now shifts to bolstering the professionalism and sustainability of our team. While this assurance is a significant step, it’s crucial to recognise that our current funding only covers the bare minimum to field a team – in fact, we still need to raise $20,000 to meet this minimum amount.
Beyond this, we are working to raise an additional $100,000 to adequately support our players and coaching staff, ensuring they receive the necessary resources to compete at a professional level. This includes meeting the minimum salary cap and providing essential support for training facilities and player development. Our ‘Save Canberra United’ campaign remains active, aiming to secure additional resources through fundraising efforts, sponsor engagement, and grants.
We are deeply grateful for the support received thus far and call upon our community to continue backing us in this endeavor. Together, we will ensure Canberra United’s continued success and impact on women’s football in our region.

Providing essential support to Canberra United not only ensures the team’s competitiveness but also benefits the community in numerous ways. It offers aspiring young athletes role models and pathways to pursue their dreams in football, fostering a culture of sportsmanship and ambition. Canberra United’s presence strengthens community pride and unity, bringing people of all ages together to support a common cause. The team’s outreach programs and community initiatives can promote diversity, inclusivity and empowerment, inspiring the next generation of female athletes and instilling values of teamwork and resilience. Canberra United’s success elevates the profile of women’s sports in our region, encouraging greater participation and interest in football among girls and women. By investing in Canberra United, we invest in the future of our community, ensuring a legacy of excellence and opportunity for generations to come.
